No point in beating around the bush. I got the call: time to move back to the States.
The original timeline for this assignment had me in Northern Ireland until the end of next year, but perhaps you've heard about the economy, a little something called a "recession."
That's not the "r" word I have dreaded. What I've feared is that call -- "repatriation."
But you know, it's hard to be bitter when you're still not living that most dreaded of all "r" words -- "redundant."
We've seen friends and colleagues lose their jobs, and it would be gross to stand here and complain that I have to go home early. Especially when I get to keep a job that I love, and move to a new and exciting city, with beloved friends within a 4-hour radius. Traffic aside, I'm excited to be moving to the Atlanta area.
What a lucky girl I am. Every part of my time here has been amazing. I got to live my dream. Now I must think up a new one.
You know I'm strangely taken with the City of Belfast coat of arms. Its motto has always meant something to me, the very nature of grace. I think of it in particular today as I contemplate the wonder of my life in Northern Ireland: Pro tanto quid retribuamus ... "What shall we give in return for so much?"
A new adventure begins. Safe journey and it was lovely to meet you even for a short time.

Well, I'm sure you're not super-thrilled, but welcome back.

Sorry to hear about it, because I know you enjoyed it there and I enjoyed reading about it. The traffic in Atlanta is beyond description, but I suspect you know that.
